Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

No matter what your favorite kind of food is, Stony Brook has something for you. Mirabelle is situated inside the historic Three Village Inn, taking advantage of the rich history of the village. It's a French restaurant serving American comfort food, so take your pick! You can't go wrong with trying any dish served there. Comfort food is never a bad idea, so if you're looking for another restaurant serving fantastic bites, visit Sweet Mama's. They've got chicken and waffles, cinnamon apple pancakes, delicious pies, and even ice cream!

Craving a New American dish? Country House has you covered. Like Mirabelle, this restaurant sits in a historic building dating back to the 1700s. They change their decor every season, so there's always something new to see.

O Sole Mio is an Italian restaurant located inside a strip mall. It's family-owned and operated, so you'll support a great small business. You can even host a party and order food in advance at this restaurant. If you plan on visiting the restaurant, it may be a good idea to make reservations anyway, as O Sole Mio is very popular among locals.

If you're into Japanese food, Kumo is the restaurant for you. They serve all kinds of Japanese cuisine, including sushi and hibachi entrees. They also have a neon bar and happy hour for cocktails and other mixed drinks.

Things to Do

When you're in Stony Brook, visiting the Avalon Nature Preserve is a must. There are five diverse habitats and many beautiful plants to see, as well as many animals that you may not see anywhere else. Let's not forget all the walking/hiking trails, either!

Water sports are a lot of fun to try out, and that's why Stony Brook Harbor Kayak and Waterboard Rentals is a great place to go. You can rent several types of water sports equipment for any water sport you wish to try.
